November and December 2025 Birding Update!

What a busy couple of months it’s been! We have accommodated and guided several groups based at the wonderful Itororo Lodge and seen some fabulous birds along the way! We have also run private tours into Minas Gerais and the Pantanal.

As you can imagine, highlights have been many with so many wonderful birds along the way, memorable moments have been seeing Sharpbill on several occasions, two of which completed clients “family” lists, Swallow-tailed Cotingas breeding in the Itororo Lodge grounds for the 5th year running, Mantled Hawks being seen more regularly from both Itororo Lodge and the Tres Picos excursion, Grey-winged Cotinga being the most reliable it’s ever been over the last couple of months, Large-tailed Antshrike at point blank range, just sat there staring at us (!), the resident Long-trained Nightjar putting on a wonderful display most evenings at Itororo Lodge and Antbirds galore including one memorable day when we had both White-bearded Antshrike and Tufted Antshrike side by side in the same stand of bamboo!

The Itororo Lodge hide has also gone from strength to strength over the last 6 months with now daily visits from truly exceptional and usually difficult to see birds including Spot-winged Wood-Quail, Brown Tinamou, Tataupa Tinamou, Such’s (or Cryptic) Antthrush and now last week, the arrival and daily visits from Ruddy Quail Dove!
