We are well into our Naturetrek tour now and have just spent the morning around the Itororo Lodge trails. A great morning with some very rewarding sightings! The main highlight was a very responsive and obliging Variegated Antpitta, this bird just sat right in front of us for over 2 minutes! Other good birds for the morning included Rufous Gnateater, Serra do Mar Tyrant Manakin, Cryptic Antthrush and Swallow-tailed Kite amongst others. Photo below is Variegated Antpitta (Andy Foster)
