New tour begins!

After the five day tour last week where we struggled to find some dry weather thankfully the weather has finally improved and the new guests arrived today. We will be following our fixed 8 day itinerary over the next week which includes all of our usual excursions. Today we spent the first few hours watching the feeders followed by a short walk towards the White Trail within the Lodge grounds. It turned out to be a short walk as there were just so many birds around! Highlights from today included Brassy-breasted Tanager, Green-winged Saltator, Saffron Toucanet, White-throated Hummingbird, Brazilian Ruby, Scale-throated Hermit, Violet-capped Woodnymph, Burnished buff Tanager, Dusky-legged Guan, Drab-breasted Bamboo Tyrant, Orange-eyed Thornbird, Dusky-tailed Antbird, Blue Manakin, Bertoni’s Antbird (although better views needed), Greenish Schiffornis, Serra do Mar Tyrant Manakin, Yellow-eared Woodpecker, Giant Antshrike, Buff-browed Foliage Gleaner and White-collared Foliage Gleaner! What a great first afternoons birding!
